Charles Jones was a London painter of sheep, cattle and deer in landscape settings. He was of Welsh extraction, born near Cardiff and was affectionately know as 'Sheep' Jones due to his skilful and realistic portrayal of sheep.

He also exhibited at Suffolk Street and the New Watercolour Society as well as various other venues. He was a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy, Manchester and circa 1890 was awarded a gold medal at the Crystal Palace.
