Alfonso Savini was a painter of portraits, flowers and genre subjects. He was born in Bologne in 1836 and apart from travelling lived there for the rest of his life.

Savini's subjects were mostly of 18th Century costume, small in size and extremely highly detailed. Incredibly you cannot see a single brush stroke in his work, being so intricately detailed. With magnifying glass in hand you would find it impossible to fault this beautiful example of Savini's work.

Alfonso Savini exhibited at many venues throughout Europe including Turin, Florence, Venice and Bologne. Works by the artist can be found in many European museums and art galleries including La Pinacotheque in his home town of Bologne.

Alfonso Savini was the father of Alberto Savini who was also a painter.
