Bernard Dunstan (1920–2017) was a British painter, teacher, and writer, celebrated for his domestic interiors, nudes & landscapes, often painted in a lyrical, impressionistic style.
Born in Teddington, London, he studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art, later becoming one of the longest-serving members of the Royal Academy, where he was elected in 1968. Over his career, Dunstan taught at several leading art schools, including the West of England College of Art, Camberwell School of Art, and the Byam Shaw, influencing generations of young painters.
He exhibited widely, particularly with Roland, Browse and Delbanco and later with Agnew’s and Browse & Darby, gaining a reputation as one of Britain’s most beloved figurative artists.
